Dr. Priyadarshini G. Roy has a Ph.D. in Strategic Media. She is an actor, singer, dancer, model, producer, and four-time pageant queen. She is the Correspondent for the most prominent Indian radio station, Rukus Ave Radio on the iHeartRadio app, with over 10 million listeners. Her guest line-up included S.S. Rajamouli, Vishal and Rekha Bhardwaj Academy Award winners Guneet Monga, Kartiki Gonsalves, Grammy-nominated Anoushka Shankar, Padmini Kohlapure, the Indian Consul General, among other musical, political, and spiritual dignitaries. She is making her pan-India film debut as an actor and Associate Producer (Priyadarshini Pictures and Entertainment) with the historical magnum opus, Devi Chowdhurani-The Bandit Queen of Bengal which takes place in the 1770s of pre-independence India.
Dr. Roy’s active leadership, dedication, and social work within the diverse demography of Los Angeles have led her to be awarded by the U.S. Congress House of Representatives as one of the most Inspirational Women of 2023 through the Step 2 Step Up non-profit organization. She has moderated and been a panelist for global events hosted by the Los Angeles Tribune, the Power of Woman through the 2023 G20/C20 Summit, and the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Dr. Roy was awarded by the City of Los Angeles and the National Federation of Indian Americans (N.F.I.A.) for her continued efforts.
Her passion for acting, films, and production led her to pursue and graduate with Distinction from Film School and receive a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Digital Cinema. Her thesis documentary short film, Colonized-The Largest Genocide, has won 14 awards for Best Female Director, Best Documentary, and Best Story at domestic and international film festivals, such as the Indian International Short Film Festival Awards and Pune Short Film Festival and had its Los Angeles premiere at the City of Angels Women’s Film Festival where she won Best Student Project. She is developing her award-winning short film into a documentary series on a major streaming platform. As the President of Priyadarshini Films and Entertainment L.L.C., she has written, acted in, and produced commercials aired on Sony TV USA, podcasts, and short films. Dr Roy contested on the first Indian-American reality show of its kind, Made in America on Zee TV USA.
Despite gaining her first college acceptance at the age of 13 through the CSULA Early Entrance Program, she ended up skipping 11th grade due to accelerated credits and received her first degree at 15 for her Bharatnatyam Arangetram (Solo Dance Graduation Ceremony). As a quadruple pageant winner, her titles include Miss India U.S.A. Miss Talented 2013, Miss India Southern CA 2012, and P.C. Chandra Miss Sampurna 2010. Over the years with her American and Indian semiclassical vocal and music training, she has been a contestant on American Idol, The X-Factor, The Voice, and SaReGaMaPa North America. She has performed in front of thousands, representing Indian Americans in front of many Bollywood celebrities, playback singers, and political dignitaries.
She is commercially signed with agencies in Los Angeles while pursuing a career as a leading lady with upcoming feature films in the Bollywood and Hollywood industries. She believes striking a balance is essential to finding your purpose through perseverance, persistence, patience, and a hunger not to be average but, most importantly, to give back to the community through the legacy of art and culture.
